Rouse Hill Town Centre

ROUSE HILL is named after the estate of a free settler, Richard Rouse, who arrived in the colony in 1801. He was given a grant of 450 acres in 1816 at Vinegar Hill. Governor Macquarie suggested that the estate be called Rouse Hill probably to remove the convict association with the area via the Battle of Vinegar Hill that occurred in the vicinity in 1804.

 

Rouse Hill Village Centre which opened in 1999, is a small shopping centre located on Windsor Road. This complex features an IGA supermarket, specialty shops and restaurants. It is adjacent to the Meridien Realty Rouse Hill office. The Terrace is another small commercial centre which was opened on Panmure Street in 2004.

 

On Windsor Rd is the popular Rouse Hill Town Centre. It combines the traditional values and streetscape of a contemporary market town with the latest fashion, homewares, dining, community services and lifestyle choices. With over 230 specialty stores including Woolworths, Coles, Big W, Target and a Reading Cinema. In addition there is also a library and community facilities as well as a number of apartments that enjoy the convenience the centre offers. In May 2019 the North West rail link commences operation giving locals access to train transport to the city and the Rouse Hill Station is located on Windsor Road at the front of the Town Centre.

 

Along with Rouse Hill Public School and Iron Bark Ridge Public School, the suburb is home to Rouse Hill Anglican College a K – 12 co-ed private school. Rouse Hill High School opened in 2009 and Our Lady of the Angels Primary Catholic School opened in 2010 to better serve the community.

 

Also located at Rouse Hill is the very popular entertainment venue The Fiddler, an ideal place to meet friends for a casual meal and drink. They provide plenty of live entertainment and it’s popular every day of the week with Hills locals.Rouse Hill offers a mix of homes ranging from some luxury properties located in the area known as Highlands Ridge Estate. The homes tend to be more modest closer to the Rouse Hill Village, and the mix includes terrace homes and apartments. There is a host of new apartments under construction on Windsor Rd opposite The Fiddler.
