Fannie L. Hamer was born Oct. 6, 1917. She married Perry Hamer in 1942 and got involved in the civil rights movemet after Mrs.Tucker convinced her to attend a meeting at William Chapel M. B. Church. SNCC made her Field Secretary. other groups MFDP, NAACP
