Oneida Nation Walk of Legends

Description

Oneida Nation Walk of Legends

The Walk of Legends is a one-mile walk east of Lambeau Field featuring 24 statues celebrating the legends and the history of the Green Bay Packers. The project was created by Sandi Campbell, designed by her daughter Corrie Campbell, and sponsored by the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin. The Walk of Legends begins in the shadows of Lambeau, with 3 of its 24 statues kicking off the history walk at the corner of Lombardi Avenue and South Oneida Street. From there, visitors can view the remaining 21 statues by continuing east on Lombardi. The statues are engraved granite and steel tributes, which collectively chronicle the legends and history of the team in consecutive order. The statues are four-sided, with each side presenting an artistic depiction of a single player or era in the Packers’ history. Besides Lombardi Avenue, you’ll find statues on Bart Starr Drive, Reggie White Way, Tony Canadeo Run, Brett Favre Pass and Holmgren Way. The Walk of Legends is free and open to the public 365 days a year. It has become one of the most popular geocaching areas, and is one of the most popular attractions in the Greater Green Bay area. In addition to cataloguing the history of the team, the statues on the Walk of Legends educate viewers on the history of its sponsor, the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin (whose members were some of the first marquee players in Green Bay football history). You’ll be able to read vignettes outlining tribal history, practices, and customs on each statue. Walk of Legends map
